Hello, Interlink Circulation 2.0!
After more than 10,000 conversations, it is time to say goodbye.
Not to our clients, of course, but to the country’s most famous newspaper circulation system, Interlink Circulation 1.x which our clients have been using for many years now.
Already operators at 1,500 community newspapers are saying, “Hello!” to Interlink Circulation 2.0. Our clients don’t have to order it, and they surely won’t be receiving a bill for it. Interlink Circulation 2.0 will arrive automatically on their computer ready for them to upgrade with a simple click of the mouse.
Of course, you’ll see some new buttons, though you’ll be able to close your next issue and print your reports using the same old buttons you have loved for so long. You’ll be able to ease into the new functions and take advantage of the new features at your own pace.
Here are some of the new capabilities:
- Electronic-edition tracking. As of late spring, you now can count up to 10 percent of your total paid or requested copies necessary to qualify or continue to qualify for a Periodical Mail permit. To count them, you have to track them, and now your Interlink Circulation 2.0 tracks them for you.
- Subscriber record grid. Customers often have asked about adding a field to the grid, and sorting by that field to better understand their readership. You now have 43 fields to work with, adding or removing fields to meet your preference. And, by clicking on the field name, the set of records sorts on that field.
- Weekly or Monthly rate terms. Adding the option to calculate subscription terms by the week instead of the month, adds promotional and long-term flexibility. One group publisher is selling subscriptions by 4-week blocks, ending up with 13 such blocks in a year instead of 12 months. Promotions such as “Try us for 10 weeks for just $10!” are now possible to automate.
- Self-Service Print to Mail. Now Print to Mail users can print renewals as a simple file that automatically is sent to Interlink. The user then confirms on their screen that the file Interlink received is the right file and that they approve the file for printing and mailing. Not using Print to Mail? Now is the perfect time to send all your renewals in seconds. The complete renewal package is beautifully printed, using your newspaper’s letterhead logo. You no longer have to stock paper, envelopes, stamps and hand fold and assemble your renewals. The cost is just 79 cents each with no other charge of any kind. Now, you can do your weekly or monthly renewals in about the same amount of time as it takes for your computer to start up!
- SmartSampling™ This totally new, highly automated function sends samples for a few issues to selected non-subscribing households along with a new subscription offer. The key to converting 10-to-14 percent of sampled households to regular subscribers is to send enough samples for them to get in the habit of reading your newspaper. The cost of a new subscription using Computerized Delivery Sequence (CDS) addresses and SmartSampling™ is roughly $12. On a $30 – $39 subscription rate, this is a profitable subscription year one. And, more so year two and following.
The list of new opportunities goes on and on. And, the new system is designed to make additional features and functions much easier to bring to our users. This is important as reader needs and postal needs continue to be ever more demanding.
Interlink Circulation 2.0 is a wonderful beginning for a system designed to be as current as tomorrow morning, often by yesterday or last month!
Welcome to Interlink Circulation 2.0.
