EDITOR’S NOTE: NNA President Robert M. Williams, Jr., a long-time Interlink customer, wrote this editorial which is being shared as part of National Newspaper Week, Oct. 6-12.

By Robert M. Williams, Jr.
Publisher, Blackshear (GA) Times and
President of the National Newspaper Association

I know of newspapers that exposed crooks, lost a lot of advertising from the crooks’ buddies and still put out a paper every week.

I know of a newspaper that had an ironic sense of humor that even offended a few readers and stood its ground with a “come on people, have a brain” retort.

Full-Service Intelligent Mail – What’s really in it for the community newspaper publisher?

By William E. (Bill) Garber
Interlink Founder and Chairman

All calculations start with the 14 cents per subscription that adding Full-Service Intelligent Mail will add to Interlink’s annual license fee.

Savings from just Automation Rate discounts that require Full-Service Intelligent Mail as of Jan. 26, 2014, will exceed the Full-Service Intelligent Mail cost differential for more than 90% of Interlink clients.

In short, when considering only Automation Rate discounts, 90% of Interlink clients will pay less cash out in 2014 while using Interlink Circulation than if Interlink had kept its 2013 license rate and had not included Full-Service Intelligent Mail.

Interlink Circulation is Full-Service

By Brad Hill
President

Earlier this month, we released Interlink Circulation version 2.3, and with it passed a major milestone as publishers of mailing software. This update, one of the most significant we have produced in recent years, includes everything necessary to submit mailings that meet the upcoming Full-Service requirements of the U.S. Postal Service.

As a reminder, after Jan. 26, 2014, all Full-Service Intelligent Mail requirements must be met in order to claim the automation rates previously granted by simply printing a barcode with the mailing address. Full-Service is about much more than automation rates, and there’s a lot of good information explaining what else Full-Service means.

Thank you…For all you do to inform readers, to keep officials accountable and for contributing to the fabric of your community

Robert Williams, Jr.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Robert M. Williams, Jr., publisher of SouthFire Newspapers Group in Georgia, is the 2013-2014 National Newspaper Association president. Williams, a long-time Interlink customer, presented this speech before NNA members attending the recent convention in Phoenix as he started his term as NNA President. Reprinted with permission.

Thank you…

For all you do to inform readers, to keep officials accountable and for contributing to the fabric of your community

First…Thank you. Thank you for probably missing dinner two nights this week because you were attending a meeting of your county commission or school board. You were there so you could inform thousands of readers who didn’t want to be bothered by going themselves or showing up to keep local government officials accountable.

You did. And, you do. Week after week. Thank you.

Or maybe you were at a Relay for Life meeting where, in addition to reporting on all those volunteers, you were probably also coordinating your own volunteer team.

Thank you for contributing to the fabric of your community.
