Over the weekend the Daily Press reported that a compromise had been worked out by Caltrans and the owners of the historic Mountain Top Cafe, at the junction to Wrightwood, Highway 2 and Highway 138.
So much is being said about “social media” these days, one forgets that community newspapers, from monthly, to weekly, to daily, are the best source for members of the community and those public agencies that serve them, to communicate.

What do you care most about in life?
Most of us would put family at, or near, the top of such a list. Friends would be there. So would our jobs or businesses, our livelihoods. Our homes. Maybe our pets. Our hobbies and pastimes. Add in those around us: Neighbors, the community, etc.
Former Missouri newspaper owners and publishers Gary and Helen Sosniecki are among six newspaper people, including another husband-wife team, who were inducted in September into the Missouri Press Association Newspaper Hall of Fame.
Helen is Interlink’s Senior Sales and Marketing Manager, and Gary is a Regional Sales Manager for TownNews.com. The induction was held Sept. 26, during the 148th annual Convention of the Missouri Press Association (MPA) in Columbia.

Nearly 250 newspapers now are using Interlink Circulation to submit postal documentation online for every issue. In doing so, publishers are freed from having to provide hardcopy PS Forms 3541 (Periodical Mail) and 3602 (Standard Mail), as well as the USPS Qualification Report.
In lieu of clicking Print, eDoc users choose Send to USPS to submit their reports, which are then immediately available to the local post office. Printed copies still are available for determined record-keepers, from within Circulation or by logging into the USPS Business Customer Gateway at gateway.usps.com.

The USPS Statement of Ownership, Management, and Circulation, also known as PS Form 3526, is required by the Post Office annually to show proof of continued eligibility for mailing under a Periodical Permit.
